The five-day headline needs three qualifications
“Five-day return” sounds like a blanket right until you read the conditions. Hipobuy's official Returns and Refunds notice describes a service offered by participating sellers on third-party platforms. The article must be eligible, remain in a marketable condition and be within the warehouse request window. Those are three separate checks. A buyer who sees the item in a spreadsheet and assumes that every seller will take it back is skipping the part that determines the result.
The same notice defines the request period as five days after the order status becomes Warehoused, starting from the next hour, and equates the period to 120 hours. It says a request may not be accepted after the period expires. That is a reason to inspect promptly, not a guarantee that any request filed before the deadline will be approved. Seller acceptance and category-specific packaging rules still apply. The platform's 90 days of free storage for Stored orders, described on a different official page, does not extend this return window.
Check eligibility before choosing a variant
Begin on the actual seller listing. Record the seller, selected colour or size, product option and the return information shown in the purchase flow. Hipobuy's official returns page says an eligible product needs a seller return guarantee and a state suitable for resale under the seller's requirements. Its examples of ineligible situations include custom-made products, goods whose packaging or tags were removed at the user's request, second-hand goods and some personal or sealed categories. The examples are not a substitute for the full current policy, but they show why a simple “five days for everything” label is unreliable.
Before buying a size-sensitive or personalized product, ask whether the seller's option is actually returnable. If a package needs to remain sealed, an inspection request that opens or removes parts may affect eligibility. That does not mean you should forgo all QC; it means you should decide what information you need while keeping the applicable packaging requirements in view. The service handling your order can clarify an individual case. This independent directory cannot decide it from a product title.
| Decision point | Evidence worth keeping | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Seller offer | Current listing and return terms | Participation is one eligibility condition |
| Selected variant | Screenshot of size, colour and version | Shows what the seller was asked to supply |
| Warehouse arrival | Status and time in the account | Starts the separate inspection and request decisions |
| QC inspection | Original photographs and specific concern | Makes a mismatch or visible fault explainable |
| Return request | Request time, reason and reply | Shows what was asked while the window was open |
Start the clock from the account, not a saved card
A spreadsheet snapshot cannot tell you when your own product became Warehoused. The status and timestamp belong to the agent order. Hipobuy's Order Status Display distinguishes Arrived, which awaits inspection, from Stored, which is associated with warehouse storage. Its returns notice uses the term Warehoused for the application window. Read the labels and timing in your actual account and, if anything is unclear, ask the service which time applies. Do not calculate a personal deadline from the date you clicked a product link or from a seller's local dispatch.
As soon as inspection material is available, compare the exact variant to the received item. Check overall shape, colour, size label, visible damage and any measurement you requested. A seller's advertising image is not evidence of the physical unit in your account. If an angle is missing, request it promptly. Waiting until the end of a five-day window to identify a problem leaves little room for clarification or a seller response.
A change of mind and a seller mistake are different cases
The official returns page separates responsibility for an unconditional return requested for personal reasons from cases such as wrong size or product sent by the seller. For an unconditional buyer-initiated return, it lists shipping to the seller, shipping from the seller and a RMB 5 service fee. It notes that even where purchase shipping was offered as free, the original dispatch charge may need to be repaid on a return. The exact charge and responsible party should be checked on the current order; do not call the whole service a “free return.”
If a seller shipped the wrong variant or a product arrived with a visible fault, document the difference. Give the agent the seller URL, chosen option, order ID and the relevant warehouse image. Hipobuy's notice describes seller-caused issues separately and says customer charges usually differ, while acknowledging that a seller may dispute shipping responsibility. Avoid promising that an appeal will always succeed. The concrete evidence is what lets the platform and seller evaluate the case.
What happens to the refund
Hipobuy's returns page says the refund total is based on the product amount actually paid, and a return can only be performed when the seller agrees. Its Order Status Display describes Under Review during processing and Returned when the return and refund process is complete. That status guide says a completed refund goes to the Hipobuy account; its cancellation entry likewise describes a return to the wallet. Do not assume a return of money straight to the same international card without checking the current payment and withdrawal rules.
Keep any balance needed for a buyer-funded return charge if the service requests it. Record the agent's response and the seller's decision. The length of a refund process cannot be predicted by the five-day application period: one is a deadline for asking, the other is a sequence of decisions and transfers. If your situation concerns an item already dispatched internationally, the warehouse return process is not necessarily the applicable one.
Two practical examples
Suppose a hoodie is marked Stored and its QC image shows the wrong size label. Compare it with the selected option before filing a request, then identify the image and discrepancy in your message. You have a potentially explainable seller mismatch, but its treatment depends on the order and policy. By contrast, suppose the size is exactly what you ordered but you have changed your mind after seeing the fit chart. That is a buyer-initiated decision, and the official return charge example may apply. Both requests should be made promptly; their reasons and likely costs differ.
The best protection is to avoid buying an uncertain variant, read the seller's conditions before payment, review warehouse evidence as soon as it appears and keep the actual request trail. A five-day headline alone does none of this. It is the conjunction of eligibility, timing, item condition, evidence and seller decision that determines the next step.
When the item has already gone abroad
The warehouse guarantee concerns a seller-side return before international dispatch. Once the parcel has left, damage, missing contents and later product problems involve different after-sales notices and potentially the carrier. Keep the warehouse return question separate from a delivery claim. If you have already submitted the parcel, tell support the parcel ID and current event instead of trying to apply the earlier five-day process to a shipment in transit.
